Welcome to the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association (MPMA) web site. The Maryland Podiatric Medical Association is an affiliate organization of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).  The Maryland Podiatric Medical Association is the professional medical association representing podiatric physicians in Maryland.

What is Podiatry?

Podiatry is a field of medicine that strives to improve the overall health and well-being of patients by focusing on preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions associated with the foot and ankle. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) are physicians and surgeons who practice on the lower extremities, primarily on feet and ankles. The preparatory education of most DPMs includes four years of undergraduate work, followed by four years in an accredited podiatric medical school, followed by a hospital-based residency. DPMs are licensed in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico to diagnose and treat the foot and its related or governing structures by medical, surgical, or other means. The vast majority of states also include ankle care as part of the podiatric physician's scope of practice.

The EC meetings are held at the Howard County Wellness Center. Please note that the Center has moved: The new address of the Wellness Center is:  Medical Pavilion at Howard County, 10710 Charter Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21044 Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Classes of 1960, 1970, 1985 and 1995 Reunion   The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Classes of 1960, 1970, 1985 and 1995 will be welcomed back to OCPM on May 28-29, 2010 for a weekend of reunion activities!   The weekend will include recognition at the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 28, 2010, followed by a post-commencement reception at the new OCPM campus. On Saturday, May 29, 2010, OCPM will host the 6th Annual Glass Slipper Fete.
